‘The North Coast: A Botanical Odyssey’ with Ian Evans
25th of April 2019 Skerray Village Hall

Ian Evans from Assynt Field Club entertained us for the evening with his ‘Botanical Odyssey’. This was an interesting and informative account of wildflower recording since 2015, from Cape Wrath to Forsinard, with much of it in and around Tongue.
This was certainly an eyeopener on the importance of volunteer science. Thousands of skilled hours and dedication of botanists such as Ian provide invaluable data that would be impossible to collect through any other source.
Twenty five folk attended the evening, which is a great turnout for our small communities. After a slight hiccup with technology, (the remote slide clicker failed), Ian resorted to his practical solution of holding the window pole and knocking it against the floor as a prompt for Stephen to manually click on to the next slide!
